January 27, 2025
Dear City of Cotati,
Once again, as I did in 2010 and 2013, during Cotati's darkest hour of low citizen participation at City Hall, low city volunteerism, and our city's financial problems, I am applying to fill yet another vacancy on the city council in 2025.

The only difference now is I am even more experienced than ever, and more eager than ever, to stop the "bleeding" of city mismanagement, city scandals, poor public relations, improper city priorities, and dangerous group think on the city council. It's time for real debate on the issues facing our city before it is too late.

I was passed over for a council appointment, not once but twice over the years even though I was the most qualified for the position having served honorably on the city council in 2009, having a bachelor's degree from the University of San Francisco's School of Government, 1983 graduating Class Valedictorian, 40 years working in the private sector, and countless hours of volunteer work in the County for organizations such as The American Red Cross, and 11 years at Food For Thought Aid Food Bank in Guerneville, CA. I also instituted the Cotati Homeless Parking Project in Cotati when the City refused to answer the cries to agendize the issue of Homelessness in Cotati.

I also spent thousands of dollars of my own funds and hundreds of volunteer hours exposing the civil rights violations and ADA violations at City Hall after several unsuccessful attempts to convince the city council to own up to their illegal activities and avoid expensive federal litigation.

As a candidate for city council in the last election, unable to launch any campaign at all whiles being persecuted by Cotati's Code Enforcement Division, I received 864 votes from the voting public to add political diversity, common sense, fiscal responsibility, integrity, council leadership experience, 40 years business experience, and respectability to the city council. This was a huge achievement by any standard. Without anything more than my campaign statement, 864 voters agreed that our town is in terrible shape and on the wrong track. My hope is to help make Cotati great again.

Having paid the huge filing fee of over $1,000.00. to the city to qualify as a candidate for public office, having fulfilled all the state filing requirements, and survived the political persecution from the City's Code Enforcement Team before the entire world, I deserve to be appointed to this vacant seat.

My civil rights have been grossly violated by the city over the recent years not once, but twice according to two federal judges. My civil rights continue to be violated by the City to this day with no end in sight. Appointing me to the city council will go far to show the voting public that the city can admit to making mistakes, and can do the right thing by showing that all political views can be respected at City Hall, show that healthy debate in government is a sign of a healthy government and a thriving community, show that councilmembers are confident enough in their own political skin to share power with those you often disagree with, and prove to the community the city council is not an elite "club" but a true reflection of our politically diverse community.

Together, our diversity of opinion is our town's greatest strength that needs to be nourished and supported. We all deserve to be referred to in the way we ask our city leaders and staff to be referred to us. Political animosities and jealousies must be replaced with tolerance. These are just some of the reasons / request being appointed back onto our city council.

Former city councilman, George Barich
