City Council members,
I would like to put in a good word for Ryan Long. I first met Ryan when I was working on the Roundabout Ban Repeal Ballot measure for Cotati. He stepped up to collect signatures to get the measure on the ballot. He volunteered out of personal interest to make improvements in Cotati and his help was appreciated.
Although Ryan and his family have only lived in Cotati a few years, he jumped right in to participate in City government and became a Planning Commissioner. I’m impressed by that commitment. He’s a Sonoma County native which gives him more long term perspective on the general area.
In conversation with Ryan, I’ve learned that he appreciates the walkability of Cotati as well as the small town, friendly character and would like to work towards keeping and improving those qualities which are important to me, as well. As someone raising a family in Cotati, he’s invested in the family friendly amenities and improving pedestrian and bicycle safety.
He also told me he's interested in increasing housing - especially affordable housing - while paying attention to the current neighborhood aesthetics and residents. I’m glad to hear affordable housing is a priority for Ryan. Ryan also let me know that he has a background in Finance which he believes will be as asset to him as a council member.
I believe Ryan is an excellent candidate to be on the Cotati City Council based on his interest in and willingness to serve, his background as a Planning Commissioner, as well as his vision and priorities for Cotati.
Respectfully,
Laurie-Ann Barbour
