Hello. My name is Sarah Sparks, and I am seeking appointment to the Cotati City Council. I was born and raised in Sonoma County and currently live in Cotati with my husband and two teenage boys. I have lived in Cotati for almost 15 years and hope to live here for many more. I love this city and will do whatever I can to help it grow and thrive.
In my career as a business systems analyst and IT manager, I have devoted myself to understanding business problems, recommending solutions, and collaborating with others to implement them. As a people leader, my primary guiding principles are integrity and respect. I do not simply boss my team around just because I have the authority. I empower them to think and act for themselves, but they know I am there to support and guide them when necessary. I believe my personal and professional experiences have prepared me for a leadership role in this community, and I am committed to doing the best job possible.
As a current participant in the Pathways to Leadership program, I have learned so much about what goes into governing a city like Cotati or Rohnert Park. I am fortunate to have met many amazing people, all of whom care about this community and are dedicated to making it a better place. While I don't have years of experience as a public servant, the insight and connections I have developed provide a solid foundation for me as a potential councilmember.
I am deeply passionate about addressing the challenges we face today. By joining the Cotati City Council, my dream is to make a tangible impact in creating a prosperous, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable community for generations to come. I believe that if we are curious about possibilities and work together, we can achieve many great things. Thank you.
