The work the Planning Commission does is very important for the future of our city. I have lived in the City of Cotati for 14 years and in that time have seen the city grow and improve.
Since recently retiring I've decided I would like to offer my time by giving back to the city and being an active participant while offering input as to where this great little city is heading.

My name is Eric Gage and my family has resided in Cotati since the 1980s. I attended Cotati Middle School at the campus located behind City Hall. I have watched the city grow and change over time.
I left Cotati in 1999 to pursue degrees in urban planning with the intention of practicing planning in Sonoma County. I earned a BA and an MA in urban planning from UC Irvine and worked in various local government positions from 2004 to 2014 before relocating back to Sonoma County. I have also worked in the planning departments of Santa Rosa and Sonoma County, and I have a strong understanding of zoning codes, the entitlement process, and community concerns. I have frequently presented projects to planning commissions in the course of my work and am very familiar with the role of the planning commission.
In 2021, I became a permanent resident of Cotati and moved into the family home. I enjoy living in Cotati. I really value the walkable aspect of the community and enjoy walking Cotati's trails and parks with my dog. I've also enjoyed walking to the farmer's markets and other events at the Cotati Plaza. I appreciate Cotati's unique character and want to see the city continue to thrive. I think that I could make a valuable contribution to the City on the Planning Commission with my work experience in planning and my personal connection to the city. Thank you for your consideration.

The main reason I'm interested in appointment to the Planning Commission is a desire to serve my community. I have lived in Cotati for 22 years and I love our small city. I very much appreciate living in a small, walkable town with caring and interesting neighbors. If I can be of service, I'm happy to do that.
Most people consider me to be a good listener as well as a caring and thoughtful person. I believe these characteristics make me a good candidate for a position on the Planning Commission. I have an interest in preserving the character of our community while also looking towards what is needed for a long term, sustainable and affordable future for Cotati. Taking care of our planet vis a vis our small town and taking care of people are both very important to me. I hope those could be useful lenses for a Planning Commissioner. I would have much to learn as a first time city government appointee and feel I would be up for that challenge.

Hello, my name is Sarah Sparks and I am seeking appointment to the Cotati Planning Commission.
My goal in joining the planning commission is to help create a sustainable, prosperous community for people to live and work. I would strive to balance the need for developed land with open space for wildlife and recreation.
