SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE INTO THE PG&E EV FLEET PROGRAM
Dear Tim,
The City of Cotati, as part of its overall Greenhouse Gas reduction strategy, as well as our strategy to reduce operating costs and supplement on-site stored energy for resilience and emergency operations over the long term, has committed to fully transitioning our vehicle fleet to battery electric vehicles (BEV). This includes all of our medium and heavy-duty vehicles, which are scheduled to be replaced with BEV alternatives as the existing internal combustion powered vehicles age out and viable BEV options are available.
Specifically, in our adopted 2-year budget (FYE 26/27), the City has committed to age out and replace at least 2 medium or heavy-duty vehicles at 203 West Sierra Avenue and at least 2 medium or heavy-duty vehicles at 1 Trebino Court. The first year of the 2-year budget year will begin July 2025, but we are unable to provide purchase orders until the new budget is in effect. However, it's our understanding that the PG&E EV Fleet program is almost fully subscribed and will likely close to new applications shortly. For this reason, we are requesting acceptance into the PG&E EV Fleet program prior to July 1, with the commitment to purchase from the City Council. If accepted, we will provide the full committed deployment schedule for our medium and heavy-duty vehicles with design.
Sincerely,
Ben Ford
Mayor
