I wanted to break down some of the costs for the persecu�on of George Barich. These are just the totals for the last month.
Just in hearing �me, we have had 28 hours of hearings in the last month. This does not include prep �me costs by anyone.
Costs:
ALJ Gary Weiner: 28 hours x $550/hour equals $15,400.
Robert Smith: 28 hours x $150/hour equals $4,200 (Robert Smith has been at all the hearings on Zoom, assuming that he is charging the City for this �me) Steve Ngo (Redwood Public Law) … assuming that he is billing the city at the charge it would be recoverable in court… For Senior Counsel in a law firm, it would be a low amount for $400/hr. 28 hours x $400/hr equals $11,200
Redwood Public Law paralegal. Average CA pay rate for paralegal is $40/hour per salary.com. 28 hours x $40/hr equals $1120
John Bakker or other atorney at Redwood Public Law to be at the Zoom mee�ng. Assuming a low recoverable rate of $300/hour if in Court.
28 hours x $300/hr. equals $8,400
Kevin Paterson’s salary to run the Zoom mee�ngs:
28 hours x $43/hr equals $1,204
This totals $41,524 for all es�mated recoverable costs to the City of Cota� for just these 28 hours of hearings in the last month.
The code enforcement budget for 25/26 is $38,000. The City is already overbudget just for the hours spent on the hearings… 28 hours. No wonder there is no monies available for code enforcement in Cota�, i.e. the Cota� hotel, when the City of Cota� is spending upwards of $41k a month on persecu�ng one man.
