Subject: Delano Pathway
To Whom It May Concern,
The pathway in Delano Park is dangerous. There are bright orange signs to warn us on either side that have been up for over a year now. I walk this pathway regularly with my small children of 2 and 4 years old. The stroller gets stuck. The kids trip. The grass is mud ridden in the winter. This needs to be fixed.
It is the most direct route for the communities of Kessing Ranch and Lund Hill to get to downtown. With so many young children we need a safe way to get downtown to enjoy all those restaurants and events at the plaza.
I understand there is a contingent of people that want it to look more natural and thus are blocking the asphalt plan. They'd prefer some decomposed granite surface. I understand this plight. And perhaps in the future when there is a budget for it visit it. From what I know this will be very expensive and time consuming just in the initial research of feasibility. As we know in the winter a natural creek forms just next to this path which is why they probably chose asphalt to begin with.
Let us not let perfect be the enemy of good. For now it is about safety and maintenance. Go forward with the asphalt plan if only as a temporary measure.
Thank you for your time,
Abraham Flinders
