RE: Item 8.G: 2025 State of the City
Dear Mayor Ford, Vice Mayor Lemus, Councilmembers, and Staff, Generation Housing would like to recognize and commend Cotati for its leadership on housing policy over the past year. The City’s work on Impact Fee Reform and its approval of significant developments like Redwood Row reflect a strong commitment to increasing housing opportunities, even amid regional and regulatory challenges outside the City's direct control.
These efforts resonate deeply with our mission and guiding principles, supporting housing abundance, advancing equitable and efficient land use, and championing collaborative, pragmatic policy solutions. Cotati’s progress demonstrates how thoughtful local action can meaningfully contribute to a more affordable and inclusive housing landscape for Sonoma County.
We are also encouraged by the City’s continued exploration of forward-looking policies such as the TOC, which has the potential to further expand housing access while promoting smart, sustainable growth.
Generation Housing values our partnership with Cotati and appreciates the City’s openness to dialogue and shared problem-solving. We look forward to continuing to work together as Cotati builds on its momentum and strengthens its role as a regional leader in housing policy.
In partnership,
Stephanie Picard Bowen
Deputy Director, Generation Housing
