Subject: E-bikes, dirt bikes, scooters and other motor powered vehicles on city sidewalks.

After nearly being run down recently by two tween boys on Old Redwood Hwy (twice), I witnessed today a total of 5 boys all on motorized bikes on the sidewalk in front of Sal's (including one doing a wheelie between the tables with customers sitting outside) and by the volleyball courts. With all the recent press (especially the death of a woman cyclist in Davis run into by a 16 year old on an e-bike) along with other cities and the state now moving fast with legislation to ensure safe(r) pedestrian egress and further regulation of the vehicles, it is time for Cotati's city council to immediately follow suit with spring break and then summer upon us. If you could include this for the upcoming 3/10/26 council meeting agenda, it would get the ball rolling. Ultimately, the liability does fall to the city to enforce already existing laws and now is the time to be proactive against liability from injury or worse, because this hasn't been a priority for the city. It boggles my mind with all the bike lanes why kids (and some adults) are using the sidewalks putting everyone in danger.

Thank you,
Cathleen Tandy
