Dear Mayor Lemus and Members of the Cotati City Council, The Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition supports the Class IV bike lane demonstration project on Redwood Drive. Converting the existing buffered Class II lanes on Redwood is an important step toward creating a safe, connected network that benefits cyclists of all ages and abilities. It is also useful to be considering Class IV lanes in this area as a potential connection to the proposed Highway 101 bicycle and pedestrian overcrossing at Copeland Creek, which the city of Rohnert Park has begun studying.
Once the funding for this demonstration project is secured, we hope the city and consultants will seek input from community stakeholders during the design and implementation phases.
