NEW BUSINESS
NB 1. City Downtown Holiday Lighting Enhancements
City Manager Marcarello indicated Parks & Recreation/Library Services Director, Lisa Evans and Parks & Recreation Supervisor, Melody Hynes would be making the presentation. He also indicated that the timing of this request was such that the proposal was received after the last meeting; however, waiting until the next meeting would have been too long to get them in time for the scheduled deadlines.

Parks & Recreation/Library Services Director Evans expressed appreciation to Council for meeting this evening to consider this item. She added that Parks & Recreation Supervisor Hynes would be providing the report.

Parks & Recreation Supervisor Hynes provided an overview of the 2022 Tree Lighting Ceremony and Proposed City Downtown Holiday Lighting Enhancements - which included a PowerPoint slide presentation. She outlined the tree lighting ceremony which is co-sponsored by Covina Downtown Merchants Association and HH Dorje Chang III Art & Cultural Center. She also detailed the lighting enhancements indicating that the lighting at Casa Moreno was not able to be installed due to issues involving building height. Councilmember King asked if there was a way to include Casa Moreno lighting in the future. Parks & Recreation Supervisor Hynes indicated it would be revisited.

Councilmembers Linares and Delgado said they were pleased with the proposed lighting enhancement project.

In response to Mayor Cortez' question if the old Christmas tree or new Christmas tree would be lit during the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Parks & Recreation Supervisor Hynes indicated both would be lit.

A motion was made by Councilmember King, seconded by Councilmember Linares, to adopt Resolution CC 2022-106 of the City Council of the City of Covina, California, authorizing an COUNCIL/CSA/CPFA/CHA MINUTES Page 2 of 3 Tuesday, October 4, 2022
