Re: Crescent City Comprehensive Tobacco Retailer Licensing Ordinance Dear City Council,
The Crescent City/Del Norte Chamber of Commerce would like to thank you for all you do to support and serve our community. We feel strongly that our city employees and City Council devote great efforts to keep our citizens safe and healthy and our community moving in a positive direction. We also realize that our region faces major hurdles in accomplishing this for many reasons.
One such issue facing our community is the high rate of tobacco and vaping usage in our Del Norte County youth. We all know that smoking is a leading cause of disease in our nation. We also know that a community’s children are our future, and without keeping them healthy we cannot improve the measurement of the health in our community.
Because of this we, as the Chamber of Commerce, support the request from Nor Cal 4 Health to the Crescent City Council to investigate the creation of a City Comprehensive Tobacco Retailer Licensing Ordinance and what that would look like.
