Housing Authority Executive Director Miller gave the history of how the County obtained the Legacy which was a former hotel and are now permanent homes. In order to be a resident of the Legacy, you need to be homeless. Renovations will start in 2023. None of the residents at the Legacy are on HUD; therefore this program will allow more families to be housed. Director Smith stated his only concern was that the County would pull their weight; See Thao, Director Health and Human Services explained the partnership between the City and the County. Chair Greenough asked when the vouchers could be used; Director Miller said that once the renovations are done and as the room becomes available. Director Inscore stated there is no risk for the City as the funds cannot be used until the room has been renovated. Also, by moving forward giving the vouchers proves that there is a need for housing. Chief Griffin stated that there has been great communication and there has been a huge turn around at the Legacy.
Roy Jackson of the Legacy stated he values the relationship with Chief Griffin.
