Dear Crescent City Council,
I have lived part-time in Del Norte County all of my 68 years. My parents had the foresight to buy property and build a home on the Smith River in 1953. I worked for the City of Crescent City from 1986-1993 as your first Planning Director.
I have been fortunate to experience many amazing areas in the world that have spectacular natural beauty. I have spent time in the Pacific Islands, Caribbean, New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the US. However, my favorite place is here in Del Norte County, and specifically the Smith River. Just recently I swam and went snorkeling in the North Fork above Stoney Creek.
Even though I have been there dozens of times I still marvel at the unmatched beauty and water quality.
I encourage you to do everything in your power to protect our very special and unique Smith River.
