Dear Assemblymember Muratsuchi:
The City of Culver City supports AB 2220. This bill establishes the Homeless Court Pilot Program administered by the Judicial Council as a grant pilot program (homeless court grant program) for eligible applicants to provide comprehensive community -based services to achieve stabilization for, and address the specific legal needs of, chronically homeless individuals involved with the criminal justice system.
AB 2220 establishes a competitive -grant pilot p rogram administered by the Judicial Council to create a homeless courts plan that includes a community -based framework.
This framework has been developed with an allowance for local considerations in order to create a replicable standard for success.
The City supports the Homeless Court Pilot Program ’s vision of providing unhoused participants with access to wrap around services such as housing, employment, public assistance, and treatment programs to assist in reentry to better integrate individuals into their communities. It is for these reasons that the City of Culver City supports AB 2220.
