2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CULVER CITY, STATE OF
3 CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING AN ALL-MAIL BALLOT 4 ELECTION FOR AUGUST 26, 2025
5 6 WHEREAS, the City of Culver City (the “City”) is experiencing a fiscal 7 emergency; and
8 WHEREAS, at the March 4, 2025, City Council Meeting, the City Council 9 unanimously requested that staff agendize a discussion item regarding the placement of 10 a 0.25% sales tax increase ballot measure at an upcoming election; and 11 WHEREAS, the first available date for an all-mail ballot election is August 12 26, 2025; and
13 WHEREAS, the City is authorized to conduct all mail ballot elections 14 pursuant to City Charter section 1505.
15 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Culver City, California, 16 DOES HEREBY ORDAIN as follows:
17 SECTION 1: The City Council authorizes the conduct of an all-mail election 18 dated August 26, 2025.
19 SECTION 2: The City Council hereby declares that, if any provision, 20 section, subsection , paragraph, sentence, phrase or word of this Ordinance is 21 rendered or declared invalid or unconstitutional by any final action in a court of 22 competent jurisdiction or by reason or any preemptive legislation, then the City Council 23 would have independently adopted the remaining provisions, sections, subsections, 24 paragraphs, sentences, phrases, or words of this Ordinance, and as such they shall 25 remain in full force and effect.
26 SECTION 3: Pursuant to Section 619 of the City Charter, this Ordinance 27 shall take effect immediately upon adoption. Pursuant to Section 616 and 621 of 28 the City Charter, prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days after the adoption, the City
