For the body(ies) to which you seek appointment(s), what have youdetermined to be the primary role of the body? Apart from income barriers, I have observed that homelessness spills over from majormetros into surrounding accessible cities that have VA Centers, public transport poorly zonedresidential areas. I would think that this Committee would focus on two items: 1) providingalternate housing options and 2) work with the land use and planning department on zoningissues and providing public support systems Why do you seek appointment on the body(ies)? Please be specific to thebody(ies)'s role.

1. Homelessness exists in pockets and irrespective of the affluence of the area. You could goa block from an expensive zip to a non regulated non residential zone and you'll see signs ofself made homeless shelters. It is critical that this committee and the planning department towork together regarding land use and zoning issues to ensure conformity and misuse ofpublic property. 2. Homeless crimes usually occur within encampments/shelters and are nota major threat. This committee should communicate such items to the public 2. Homelessshelters/encampments move because they are afraid of authority. It may be idealistic but Ithink homeless persons a sense of direction and self worth and self value. One way to dothat is to involve them in community outreach programs.

What is there specifically in your background, training, education or intereststhat qualifies you for appointment? What special qualities and/orqualifications can you bring to the body(ies) to which you seekappointment(s)? The primary question is why do persons choose to live a homeless life? There are a possiblenumber of reasons which I would like to understand before recommending anything but Ithink we should direct our efforts, resources and plans on data based outcomes and perhapseven copy from what has worked in other smaller cities like ours.

How do you envision fulfilling the objectives, and/or goals of the body(ies), asestablished by the City Council? Build agreement and consensus within and with other advisory bodies and departments thatrepresent the city. Listen, learn and recommend. Finance Advisory Committee - after 10years of being a resident, I would really like to learn where our tax dollars go Manjit Asrani
Please upload a file to attach supplementalinformation, if desired.

How many meetings of the commission(s), board(s), or committee(s), towhich you are interested in being appointed have you attended? Pleaseindicate how often and when.

None recently though I have been in communication with the City Council regarding theseemingly irresponsible funding for the Jubilo Project and the proposal for a 0.25% sales taxincrease.

How much time, on a monthly basis, can you commit to reviewing materialsin preparation for attendance at meetings of the body(ies) to which youdesire appointment? As required
Is there anything else you would like to add that has not been covered byyour answers to the prior questions? (You may attach supplementalinformation below.) Nothing at this time though feel free to contact me with additional questions.

You are invited to attach additional pages, enclose a copy of your resume and/orsubmit supplemental information which you feel may assist the appointing authority inits evaluation of your application.

B.S. in Business Administration, University of Southern California Class of 2016 Application Questions
For the body(ies) to which you seek appointment(s), what have youdetermined to be the primary role of the body? This role involves actively shaping the community’s recreational and environmentallandscape by advising on parks, open spaces, and inclusive programs for all ages andabilities, ensuring vibrant, accessible public spaces that reflect the city’s values. To me, itmeans being a steward of community well-being, balancing creativity and practicality tofoster sustainable, welcoming environments where people can connect, play, and thrive.

Why do you seek appointment on the body(ies)? Please be specific to thebody(ies)'s role.

Culver City is a safe haven within Los Angeles, a much more chaotic backdrop. The parksand the effort we as a city put towards maintaining, improving, and protecting these parksplays a vital role in sustaining the culture within Culver.

Peter Kim
Please upload a file to attach supplementalinformation, if desired.

What is there specifically in your background, training, education or intereststhat qualifies you for appointment? What special qualities and/orqualifications can you bring to the body(ies) to which you seekappointment(s)? In all of my roles, I've managed projects with specific initiatives, deadlines, and budgets tocontribute towards achieving a broader organization-wide goal. I believe local governmentsplay the most impactful and crucial role in curating and protecting a society while alsoprogressing and innovating to make the human lives of its society better - and mostimportantly, happier.

How do you envision fulfilling the objectives, and/or goals of the body(ies), asestablished by the City Council? Frankly, I don't actually believe I have enough context to confidently answer this questionjust based on living in Culver and reading the responsibilities of this role. However, I'd saythat the way that I envision how I would contribute is similar to how I approach mostobjectives. As a new member of the commission, I would spend my early tenure listening andlearning the current state of affairs and filling in any gaps that the organization might haveor that I may identify. Over time, I believe any growing unaddressed issues or greater areasof opportunity will become more and more apparent, which is where I would personally worktowards improving.

How many meetings of the commission(s), board(s), or committee(s), towhich you are interested in being appointed have you attended? Pleaseindicate how often and when.

None. I did not realize that they were open to the public.

How much time, on a monthly basis, can you commit to reviewing materialsin preparation for attendance at meetings of the body(ies) to which youdesire appointment? Several hours... However, I don't think time is necessarily an accurate measure ofcommitment. I believe setting goals/deadlines and working towards achieving them is amore effective way to manage and measure impact than number of hours.

Is there anything else you would like to add that has not been covered byyour answers to the prior questions? (You may attach supplementalinformation below.) The short summary of my application is... within a bustling, chaotic, and seeminglymismanaged City of Los Angeles, I love what Culver City has created and continues tocreate, and as a resident here, I may not know of any major issues that require addressing, but I do know that I am a fast learner and a helpful contributor anywhere I am involved, and Iwish to be part of the group of people that help make Culver City what it is today.

What, if anything, would youchange? None - I did not know these are broadcasted. Where can I watch recordings? Question applies to Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission What Parks, Recreation and/or Community Services experience would youbring to the PRCS Commission? I do not have relevant PRCS experience.

Question applies to Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission What makes the PRCS Commission the commission that you want to be on, asopposed to being a member of any of the other Commissions, Committees, and Boards? I believe parks and generally access to nature is critical to creating a well-balanced andhealthy community, for kids, adults, and family alike. Culver City Commissions, Boards, and Committees
Application Form
Profile
Thank you for your interest in volunteering your time and expertise to the Culver City community.

The information contained on this application is for use by the City in reviewing candidates to fill vacancies on City Commissions, Committees, and Boards. During consideration of applicants, the City may consider the information contained in this application, any required supplemental questionnaire, and any other publicly available information. An appointment to any Commission, Board or Committee is at the discretion of the appointing authority.

Ethics and Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest
As a reflection of the residents of the community, Culver City prides itself on the high ethical standards adhered to by its municipal government. As a prospective applicant, we want you to be informed about potential limitations that state and local law impose on individuals who serve the community, especially where they may have a financial conflict of interest. Please consider this information before submitting an application and accepting an appointment. Further information and training regarding these limitations, as well as other legal and procedural requirements when serving on these bodies (i.e. Brown Act, ethics laws, etc.), will be provided in the event you are appointed to one of the City’s commissions, committees, or boards.

State law has established regulations intended to ensure that a public official does not use his or her position for personal, financial benefit.
• The California Political Reform Act prohibits a public official (including any of the City’s commission, committee, or board members) from participating in any decision or deliberation that might affect the official’s own financial interests. In such a situation, the official must publicly disclose the potential conflict of interest, recuse himself or herself from the item being discussed, and leave the meeting room while the matter is considered. • Government Code Section 1090 imposes an even stricter prohibition. It prohibits a local body from “making” a contract with one of its own members (even if the member has recused him or herself), which includes all aspects of contract formation, including such actions as influencing the contract’s scope or the selection of a contractor.

A community member volunteering to sit on a City commission, committee, or board should be aware of these restrictions and take them into consideration before applying for or accepting appointment to any of these bodies.

If you have questions about this information and how it may apply to your particular situation, please contact the City Attorney’s Office at (310) 253-5660.

Important Information
As you complete your application, please be aware of the following:

You may apply to any body at any time. However, only those positions that are either vacant or have terms ending soon may be considered for appointment during a certain timeframe.

You may attach a resume or other supplemental information. However, at a minimum, please ensure you submit this Application form by the applicable deadline.

Application Questions
For the body(ies) to which you seek appointment(s), what have you determined to be the primary role of the body? Understanding, advising and advocating. Once fully informed and aware of of the position best serving our community. reasons behind initiatives, plans and issues facing our community. In order to inform, and serve the city's residents and stakeholders. As well as informing myself and clients.

Why do you seek appointment on the body(ies)? Please be specific to the body(ies)'s I want to understand the issues facing residents, builders and city planners when it comes to housing, planning, and big projects that affect the community. Plus Botts & Overlook are my faves! What is there specifically in your background, training, education or interests that qualifies you for appointment? What special qualities and/or qualifications can you bring to the body(ies) to which you seek appointment(s)? I can help on a number of fronts.

To date I've only attended a couple. Via Zoom. But recently have become more involved in community affairs.

I'm a huge fan of Culver City. And building a business. In order to advise clients and build I need to learn how things are done. In planning, housing, and services offered to our residents. A realtors license, a website and a certificate from the Davenport Institute are great. But it's to get involved and give a little bit back.

As a communicator, I can lay out the plan, in content or face to face. As a problem solver and entrepreneur. Having been on a number of sides of the issues, I can offer multiple perspectives. And just completed a course of study on local government(see attach) How do you envision fulfilling the objectives, and/or goals of the body(ies), as established by the City Council?
First and foremost by listening and learning. Then by asking questions. And ultimately contributing ideas, suggestions and advocating for the community.

How many meetings of the commission(s), board(s), or committee(s), to which you are interested in being appointed have you attended? Please indicate how often and when.

How much time, on a monthly basis, can you commit to reviewing materials in preparation for attendance at meetings of the body(ies) to which you desire appointment? 10-25 hours a month. Depending on the needs of the specific Council or Commissions.

Is there anything else you would like to add that has not been covered by your answers to the prior questions? (You may attach supplemental information below.)

For the body(ies) to which you seek appointment(s), what have youdetermined to be the primary role of the body? The Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee advises the City Council and CityManager by recommending programs, policies, and activities that foster inclusion, reducediscrimination, and promote equitable opportunities and positive human relations across thecommunity. This Committee would be my main preference. The Culver City Committee onHomelessness advises the City Council and staff on strategies to reduce homelessness, reviews and recommends improvements to service delivery, and engages the communitythrough collaboration, education, and public advocacy.

Why do you seek appointment on the body(ies)? Please be specific to thebody(ies)'s role.

I seek appointment to the Equity and Human Relations Advisory Committee because mywork as an employment attorney and my own background have shown me firsthand howinequities -- whether based on race, national origin, socioeconomic status, or workplacepower dynamics -- can limit opportunities and create barriers to full participation incommunity life. In my practice, I advocate for workers whose rights are often overlooked, and I see how issues of discrimination, cultural competency, and access to fair treatmentextend beyond the workplace into the broader fabric of civic life. Serving on this Committeewould allow me to contribute my professional expertise and personal perspective torecommend policies and programs that promote inclusion, reduce bias, and ensure equitableoutcomes for all residents of Culver City. Similarly, with regards to the Committee onHomelessness, my work has given me insight into the systemic barriers that contribute tohousing insecurity. In representing low-wage workers, I regularly see how wage theft andunstable employment place individuals and families at risk of homelessness. I believe myprofessional experience addressing inequity in the workplace, combined with mycommitment to advancing human dignity, will allow me to contribute to city policy onhomelessness.

What is there specifically in your background, training, education or intereststhat qualifies you for appointment? What special qualities and/orqualifications can you bring to the body(ies) to which you seekappointment(s)? In my practice, I represent low-wage workers. This background allows me to bring a strongfoundation in advocacy, policy analysis, and problem-solving, as well as a commitment toensuring that the voices of underrepresented communities are heard in shaping CulverCity’s policies and programs. My legal training has further equipped me with the skills toanalyze policies, advocate for those who need it the most, and address systemic inequitiesthat affect both equity and housing stability. Additionally, as a foreign individual who movedto the United States later in life, and a member a religious minority, an ethnic minority, andthe broader LGBTQ+ community, I bring lived experience with the challenges of navigatingbias and barriers to inclusion.

Please upload a file to attach supplementalinformation, if desired.

How do you envision fulfilling the objectives, and/or goals of the body(ies), asestablished by the City Council? I would fulfill the objectives of these committees by using my legal training and advocacyexperience to analyze policies, propose practical solutions, and ensure the voices ofunderrepresented communities are heard. On the Equity and Human Relations AdvisoryCommittee, I would support efforts to reduce discrimination and promote inclusion, while onthe Committee on Homelessness, I would focus on strategies that address the root causes ofhousing instability and improve service delivery. In both, I would bring a commitment tofairness, collaboration, and results that strengthen our community.

How many meetings of the commission(s), board(s), or committee(s), towhich you are interested in being appointed have you attended? Pleaseindicate how often and when.

How much time, on a monthly basis, can you commit to reviewing materialsin preparation for attendance at meetings of the body(ies) to which youdesire appointment? 8-12 hours
Is there anything else you would like to add that has not been covered byyour answers to the prior questions? (You may attach supplementalinformation below.) You are invited to attach additional pages, enclose a copy of your resume and/orsubmit supplemental information which you feel may assist the appointing authority inits evaluation of your application.
