DISTRICT TAXES UPDATE
CULVER CITY MEASURES C, CC & CL
1Q 2026 (JANUARY - MARCH)
DISTRICT TAX BY MAJOR BUSINESS GROUP
As of January 1, 2026, Culver City now has three voter approved local transactions and use tax measures. The most recent addition was Measure CL, a new 0.25% rate that remitted taxes for the first time this quarter. These three measures combined to provide a 1% tax rate; the City received cash payments this quarter that totaled $5,258,520. Comparisons noted above for Measures CC and C reflect economic adjusted data, after accounting for aberrations.
The addition of several new eateries over the past year expanded casual dining; strong patronage, higher menu prices also explain the 12% restaurants-hotels increase.
Office development and expansion by existing companies
necessitated strong tax generating investments. Spending for computer/office equipment doubled this quarter, gains also game from the IT services and office supplies/furniture sectors. Overall, business-industry group surged 20%.
Related, building-constriction grew 8% paced by a 10% improvement by materials suppliers and contractors who had more project work from January through March.
World conflicts caused fuel to spike in the last few weeks of the quarter, generated modest growth from service stations.
General consumer good’s collections stayed flat. Value conscience shoppers spent more on family apparel; department stores bounced back. Marketplace ecommerce sellers improved 4%. However, fewer revenues from specialty and electronics/appliances stores along with a confidential segment’s drop off netted an overall no change for the group.
Residents pulled back on new vehicle acquisitions, off 10%.
Net of aberrations, taxable sales for all of Los Angeles County grew
4.2% over the comparable time period; the Southern California region was up 4.0%.
