WHEREAS, The City of Cupertino wishes to recognize the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, also known as the "Festival of Breaking the Fast," to honor the end of Ramadan;
WHEREAS, The Eid al-Fitr holiday marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual renewal for Muslims worldwide; WHEREAS, During the month of Ramadan, Muslims are reminded that their religion requires them to reflect on and renew their faith, give charity to the hungry and the needy, and respect and honor their fellow human beings; WHEREAS, Locally, the Muslim Community Association of Santa Clara (MCA) ' inspires and empowers its congregation to live according to the values of the Islamic faith;
WHEREAS, Muslims are a part of the fabric of our community in the City of Cupertino and the greater Bay Area region, and we recognize the contributions, rich cultural heritage, and diversity they bring to our community.
THEREFORE, I, Mayor Darcy Paul, and the Cupertino City Council do hereby Proclaim its recognition of
