Event 1. Monday, 2/6/2023, I attended a listening session cohosted by VTA and Cupertino for All as a visioning exercise for transit in the VTA system. It was well-attended and I was very happy to see a wide cross-section of the community present.
Event 2. Thursday, 2/9/2023, I attended the VTA Policy Advisory Committee meeting. The main highlight of the meeting was an update on the Better Bus Stops program.
Event 3. Monday, 2/13/2023, I met with Capt. Valenzuela and our own public safety team to receive an overview of the Sheriff's current activities and priorities.
Event 4. Wednesday, 2/15/2023, I attended a board meeting of the Cupertino Historical Society, where the board went over the budget for the coming year and examined staffing needs and issues.
Event 5. Wednesday, 2/15/2023, I also attended our State of the City address, which I was very happy to see so strongly attended. It's been a long time since I've seen the Quinlan Center so full.
Event 6. Thursday, 2/16/2023, I attended a public meeting on the VTA’s proposed transit oriented development at its Campbell light rail station.
Event 7. Friday 2/17/2023, I attended the State of the Valley address as hosted by Joint Venture Silicon Valley. The address focused on the findings contained in the Silicon Valley Index. The Index is available free of charge on the Joint Venture website to anyone interested.
Event 8. Monday 2/27/2023, I attended the Audit Committee meeting with Vice-Mayor Mohan.
We received an internal audit overview and a quarterly status update on the city’s internal audit as presented by Moss Adams, the city’s auditor; we also examined our budget process; and finally, we reviewed monthly treasurer’s investment report with a presentation from Chandler Asset Management.
Eventȱ9.ȱThursday,ȱ3/9/2023,ȱIȱattendedȱtheȱmeetingȱofȱtheȱVTAȱPolicyȱAdvisoryȱCommittee.ȱWeȱ receivedȱthreeȱinformationalȱitems.ȱTheȱfirstȱwasȱaȱreportȱonȱ2016ȱMeasureȱBȱBicycleȬPedestrianȱ Educationȱ&ȱEncouragementȱprogramȱprogress,ȱwhereȱCupertinoȱfeaturedȱheavily,ȱincludingȱ complimentsȱfromȱrepresentativesȱofȱotherȱjurisdictionsȱ(notablyȱSunnyvaleȱandȱSantaȱClara).ȱ TheȱCommitteeȱalsoȱreceivedȱreportsȱonȱtheȱVTAȱPlanȱ2050,ȱandȱtookȱfeedbackȱonȱtheȱVTA’sȱ BoardȱGovernanceȱenhancementȱinitiative—a ȱprogramȱresponsiveȱtoȱmanyȱconcernsȱaboutȱhowȱ VTAȱfunctions.ȱ
