CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT
Meeting: July 18, 2023
Subject
Consider scheduling a Council agenda item to update the FY 23-25 City Work Program to include an item relating to the Noise Ordinance.

Recommended Action
Direct staff to 1) proceed or 2) not proceed with necessary analysis regarding preparing an update to the FY 23-25 City Work Program.

Discussion
The City received concerns expressed by a resident regarding excessive noise in their neighborhood and has asked for a change to the Noise Ordinance. Modifications to the Noise Ordinance would constitute a Work Program item. In acknowledgement of this, the Mayor requested this Council Agenda item so that the Council can collectively provide direction as to whether staff should bring forward a proposed Work Program change for consideration. If Council provides direction in the affirmative, staff will return to Council in the future with an item to discuss removing a project from the FY 23-25 City Work Program of similar workload and will provide any estimated cost to facilitate this addition.

At this point, staff has done no evaluation to identify the work necessary to complete this item nor assessed the cost. This information would be provided at the subsequent Council meeting for Council to weigh in their deliberation.

Sustainability Impact
No sustainability impact.

Fiscal Impact
No Fiscal Impact.

California Environmental Quality Act
Not applicable.
