Discussion
During a regular meeting held on June 18, 2024, City Council conducted the first reading for Ordinance No. 24-2260. Staff presented details about the proposal to modify standards for fences outlined in Cupertino Municipal Code Chapter 19.48 to streamline reviews, bring standards up to date with State laws and internal practices, and clarify standards for consistency in application. At the meeting, staff clarified revisions to the standards for hedges, the requirements for measuring fence height, and the basis for the reduced size of hillside lots where solid board fencing is allowed.
If Council approves these changes today, the proposed ordinance will take effect after thirty (30) days on August 1, 2024.
