WHEREAS, Since its establishment in 1997, the Shin Shin Educational Foundation has built and sustained a remarkable coalition of nonprofits dedicated to advancing education in rural China; WHEREAS, Shin Shin has made a lasting impact through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers and the generosity of thousands of donors, continually improving the learning environment for children and striving to promote balanced development between urban and rural education in China;
WHEREAS, Over the years, Shin Shin has directly supported more than 350,000 children and 3,000 educators while constructing and repairing hundreds of schools;
WHEREAS, Shin Shin has engaged youth in Cupertino and surrounding regions, fostering meaningful connections with students in China, broadening their global perspectives, and inspiring service-oriented leadership;
WHEREAS, The City of Cupertino expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Shin Shin Educational Foundation and its volunteers for their steadfast commitment to both the Cupertino community and their mission abroad; and
WHEREAS, On January 19, 2025, the Shin Shin Educational Foundation will celebrate its 27th Anniversary during its annual appreciation and fundraising event; and
NOW, That I, Mayor Liang Chao, and the Cupertino City Council, THEREFORE, BE commend the Shin Shin Educational Foundation for its

extraordinary contributions and hereby proclaim Sunday, January 19, 2025, as
Shin Shin Educational Foundation Day
in Cupertino, I extend my deepest appreciation to the many volunteers and supporters for their tireless dedication and continued service to the community.
