City Manager Report
May 20, 2025
Good evening,
It’s a pleasure to share recent highlights and upcoming events from our community in my City Manager report.

Last week, we took time to recognize Public Service Recognition Week by honoring the dedicated public servants who help keep Cupertino running. Last Thursday, residents and City employees also participated in the annual Bike to Work Day.

Earlier this month, Mayor Chao held her Monthly Chat at Lee’s Sandwiches in St. Joseph’s Plaza.

These gatherings occur on the second Tuesday of each month and offer residents and businesses an opportunity to discuss various topics directly with the Mayor and City staff. Additional details can be found at cupertino.gov/mayorchat.

Looking ahead, I’d like to highlight two upcoming events:

First, the City will host its annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, June 2 at 4 p.m. in Civic Center Plaza. We invite the community to join us as we raise the rainbow flag in celebration of Pride Month.

Second, after several years of planning and collaboration between staff and the community, the newly renovated all-inclusive playground at Jollyman Park will officially open in June. A ribbon- cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, June 13 from 1 to 2 p.m., and all are welcome to attend.

Lastly, if these kind of updates interest you, the City’s bi -monthly e -newsletter, Cupertino Connect – Items of Interest, is available on our website: cupertino.gov/cupertinoconnect.

Residents can subscribe to this bi-monthly newsletter and other updates by visiting Cupertino.gov scrolling to the bottom, and clicking “Subscribe to our E-Notifications.”

Regards,
Tina Kapoor
Acting City Manager
