4/14/26: Participated remotely in a ‘regional town hall’ meeting at which mayors of Cupertino, Los Altos Hills and Saratoga discussed the impact of the proposed increase to Sheriff’s contract, and the cities’ joint counterproposal. The Sheriff and the County’s Chief Executive also participated in the discussion. Negotiations will continue and all participating agencies appeared to agree to an independent audit of the Sheriff’s operations and cost proposal.
4/23/26 Met with staff of County Supervisor Margaret Abe Koga to provide updates on recent council actions.
4/25/26 Along with city council members and other elected officials from state, county and school districts, I participated in the annual Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival at Memorial Park. The festival was hosted by the Cupertino- Toyokawa Sister City Committee, and as always was well attended despite the inclement weather. Food trucks, Japanese art and artifact vendors and taiko performances enhanced the festive mood of the event. Japan’s Consul-General in San Franciso was the chief guest.
