Background
On April 21, 2026, the City Council conducted the first reading of Ordinance 26-____: “An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Cupertino to Amend Sections 9.17.100, 9.17.110,

9.17.130, and 9.17.140 to Regulate Single-Use Carryout Bags.” This action was taken to align municipal code with current State regulations banning stores from providing plastic carryout bags with handles at point of purchase.
