Proclamation
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation programs are essential to communities nationwide, including Cupertino, as they enhance quality of life, support physical and mental well-being, and provide opportunities for recreation, learning, and community connection; and
WHEREAS, The City of Cupertino recognizes the power of parks to create places where residents can gather, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the benefits of safe and accessible public spaces; and
WHEREAS, The power of play helps children build confidence, try new things, make friends, and grow through summer camps, sports, art, games, outdoor activities, and other recreation programs; and
WHEREAS, The power of health and wellness is supported through group exercise, yoga, walking groups, sports programs, 50+ wellness activities, trails, and open spaces that encourage residents of all ages to stay active; and WHEREAS, The power of people is reflected in the Parks and Recreation professionals who lead activities, welcome participants, plan events, maintain spaces, and keep programs running throughout the year; and WHEREAS, The power of community is strengthened by volunteers, community partners, and residents who give their time to support Cupertino programs, events, and public spaces; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation Month is an opportunity to celebrate the many ways parks, activities, and community spaces help residents play, connect, explore, and enjoy life in Cupertino.
THEREFORE, I, Mayor Kitty Moore, and the Cupertino City Council do hereby Proclaim the month of July as
Parks and Recreation Month
in the City of Cupertino and encourage all residents to celebrate the Power of Parks and Recreation by enjoying the City’s events, activities, camps, fitness programs, volunteer opportunities, community spaces, parks, nature preserve, and trails, and to recognize the important role they play in making Cupertino a positive, healthy, and connected community.
