PUBLIC APPEARANCES:

The following speakers urged the Council to agendize and pass an immediate ceasefire resolution in Gaza to call for an end to the almost 200 days of genocide which has taken the lives of over 40,000 Palestinians, including over 15,000 children. Members of the public denounced the attacks by Israel and called for the free flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Individuals denounced the $17 billion dollars in funding passed by US Congress for Israel, asserting that supporting Israel's government and military is ultimately supporting the genocide. Speakers urged the Council not to be complicit in the genocide by staying silent, advocating for the symbolic resolution as a solidarity statement with humanity in the face of genocide. Individuals spoke about the suffering and trauma experienced by those living in Gaza in the past 198 days, as well as Palestinian American constituents who have very close ties to the people of Gaza. Members of the Palestinian American community shared experiences of harassment and assault encountered from attending peaceful ceasefire protests; others spoke about the resiliency and dignity of the Palestinian people, and the need to preserve the future of the Palestinian people.
