Dear Planning Commissioners,
Just a reminder that I live near the Community Presbyterian Church and have concerns about the proposed expansion, as noted in the letter I sent to you in May. I am supportive of more housing, just want to be built in a way that fits into the neighborhood. Please consider the changes I propose and suggested changes made by Ian McNeill and others. Thank you,

I am writing to express concerns regarding the proposed expansion of Community Presbyterian Church, particularly the plans for the new two-story Youth Ministry building and the associated site layout.

My primary concern is the proposed location of the new two-story structure adjacent to the busy roadway curve on W El Pintado. This section of roadway already presents visibility and pedestrian safety challenges. Constructing a large building so close to the street leaves little room for adequate sidewalk space and may create an environment that is less safe for pedestrians, church attendees, students, and residents traveling through the area.

In addition, the placement of a youth-oriented facility immediately adjacent to a heavily traveled roadway raises concerns about the interaction between church activities and vehicle traffic. The proposed design appears to minimize the buffer between active gathering areas and the public street.

I respectfully suggest that the Planning Commission consider a revised site plan in which the enlarged parking area surrounds or is located between the buildings and the roadway. A parking area could serve as an effective buffer zone, helping to separate church activities from traffic while also providing greater distance between the church facilities and neighboring properties. Such an arrangement may improve pedestrian safety, reduce noise impacts on the surrounding community, and create a more appropriate transition between the institutional use and adjacent residential areas.

As the Commission evaluates this proposal, I encourage careful consideration of traffic safety, pedestrian access, neighborhood compatibility, and the long-term impact of placing a large two-story building so close to the roadway.

Thank you for your consideration of these comments and for your service to the Danville community.

Sincerely,
Carol Click
