Dear City Council,
I read that you will start mediation with the Winston school in regards of their lease at the Shores. I am begging you to do everything you can to make it possible for them to stay and overturn the termination of the lease. We who live close to that school love it. We love those kids and we are so proud of having a school in Del Mar that reaches out and helps kids who need a different kind of teaching.
In regards to the talk of immensely increasing their rent, keep in mind that it means increasing the tuition for the kids. I know it´s a private school and one may think that all kids who go to private schools are rich and can afford it. This is not true, especially not for a school that serves this different kind of students. Many of those parents may have to turn every penny to be able to afford giving their special child this opportunity to learn. Please don´t shut them out because of greed. The Winston school serves a purpose in our little town, a purpose of equality, compassion, and diversity. We can all learn from each other. It does not all have to be about money.
Sincerely,
Camilla Rang
