COUNCIL STATEMENTS AND REPORTS
Council member Vasquez – Absent.

Council member Solorio-Ruiz – “I attended the Cal City South San Joaquin Valley Division membership meeting with Vice Mayor Morris, and it was a good meeting and I'm glad Delano was present in those meetings. They also talked about the Governor’s office. A member of the Governor’s office was present and they talked about Prop One and how there will be funding for that available. They encouraged, of course, the city of Delano to definitely apply. I would assume that you're already on it, Rosa, I appreciate that in advance. Then as we've seen in communities, a lot of infrastructure improvements have been happening, and I know that there's a lot of concerns of what we're doing during school time or et cetera. Why didn't we do it during the summer? Well, the great thing is it's happening. I think that we cannot halter infrastructure improvements as it's so important. Quite frankly, that is community members taxpayer money in good use, so we can all be happy about that. So other than that, that is all. Hope everyone has a good evening.”

Councilmember Nunez – “Yes, I only have one item. It's regarding Governor Newsom’s executive order. He put it out a couple of months ago regarding the encampments. He also asked that cities also enact some kind of ordinance to help alleviate with the encampments. I'm going to request that staff put something together. I have emailed earlier today staff some of the samples from other cities in our surrounding areas if they can come back with something within the next 60 days.”
Mayor Pro-Tem Morris – “The only thing I have was we took a tour of the water plant the other day or what the new one is going to look like. We went to see the one on Browning, which is going to be pretty much a duplicate, the new one across town. It was very interesting. I thank Roman for giving us us to the tour. Of course, Congressman Valadao was able to secure 6 million for us for that plant, which is awesome. That way we don't have to pass that cost on to the rate payers. Anytime we pass any cost to the rate payers, we really don't like that. We're happy that he did that for us. We are so appreciative of the work that he does for our community. Only other thing I have is that, of course, at the end of the month on the 31st Kiwanis is having a luau, any of you that want to go out and support them to help them do good things for kids, because that's what they do and the money they raise is to help the youth of our community. It all goes back for the activities that we plant for them, whether it be the pumpkin patch, whether it be the Easter egg count, whether it be whatever. So if you get a chance, come out and support them. They'd be so appreciative of that.”
Mayor Alindajao – “I also want to just echo the Vice Mayor's comments about the assistance from the federal government providing $6 million for Well 42. I understand that the size of the well is going to be about one and a half times larger than the toured well site, which is going to provide much needed infrastructure for the north part of the city, which I believe are adding about 2,000 homes in that particular area. It's also going to work as a redundancy, so if other wells go down or aren't up to a hundred percent capacity, I think Well 42 will be able to supply any shortfall. Thank you to Roman Downing and our staff for making all that happen. You just don't get $6 million and you got to do something with it. You got to put the work into it. You got to make it happen, and they're making that happen. We appreciate our staff and Congressman Valadao’s office.” Motion was made by: Solorio-Ruiz to go into closed session at 5:55 PM; 2nd by: Nunez
