Mayor Alindajao closes public comment.
Mayor Alindajao – “I'll turn to my colleagues. I'll start to my right. Councilman Nunez, any questions, comments, or concerns?”
Council Member Nunez – “I have none.”
Council Member Solorio-Ruiz – “None only. I appreciate Mark and his office getting this to us in a timely manner. I know we had conversations prior, and I see that those changes have been made in the ordinance. So I’m favor.”
Mayor Pro Tem Morris – “I too. I just have a question. If you had classes or something that wanted to camp out at the park or something just to have a get together within an organization or whatever, do they have to have a special permit to do that? Or how's that going to work?” City Attorney Hensley – “Yes. If someone wanted to set up some sort of camping activity on public property, they would need to come to city council for approval for that.” Mayor Pro Tem Morris – “Okay. I think that address it also too, if they have students who are protesting out in the park, they could do that. Right?”
City Attorney Hensley – “Well protesting is a different activity than camping. So yes. Now if they start camping while they're protesting, then that could be a problem. It just depends on, again, this is aimed at just camping. The protesting in a park is generally a protected activity, but you can engage in illegal activity while you're doing protected activity. So again, this is directed at all camping on public property.”
Mayor Alindajao – “And I have no comments on item number nine.” Motion was made by: Nunez

COUNCIL STATEMENTS AND REPORTS
Council member Vasquez – Absent.
Council member Solorio-Ruiz – “I have none. Just be safe out there tonight. Council member Sole.
Yeah, I want to give a special thanks to all those who were responsible for the Thanksgiving luncheon that happened last week. It was a great turnout. A lot of folks who attended and received a free meal, which was great. I just want to give a shout out to those who were involved. I also want to remind folks about the tree lighting ceremony that we're having on December 4th on Wednesday in front of City Hall.
It's at five 30 as well as our Christmas parade happening on Thursday. And same sentiments as Council member Nunez. Hope everyone is safe out tonight and thank you to our law enforcement for being vigilant in responding today. So that is all. Thank you.” Councilmember Nunez – None.
Mayor Pro-Tem Morris – “Yeah, I don't have much either, other than I wanted to comment what a perfect opportunity this month to be of service. But we call what I'd call ‘Light the world.’ Just do something kind and something nice and whatever it may be, little or big or however it may be. But we have so many opportunities to be a service and to show our love and caring for others. So that's just a reminder that we should be doing that probably every day. But this particular season is certainly a giving month. So do give of yourself and it doesn't have to be anything that costs you anything. Just be kind.
Thank you.”
Mayor Alindajao – “I just have a few things. Council member Solorio-Ruiz mentioned the Christmas tree lighting. I don't know if anybody's noticed, but we've split the tree lighting and the parade. They're on two different days. Just so you'll be aware. The Christmas tree lighting is happening on the fourth and the parade is on the fifth. The tree lighting begins at 5:30 PM. I believe the parade begins at six, correct me if I'm wrong. Six. Accurate for the parade.
City Engineer Dowling – “I believe so the, so five 30 this Wednesday for the tree lighting”.
Mayor Alindajao – “And I'll echo some of my colleagues' comments about being safe. We do have, if you haven't heard or not yet found out, but there was a prisoner who was housed at Kern Valley State Prison escape from the Delano Courthouse this morning. The individual's name is Caesar Hernandez. He's about five-five, about 150 pound Hispanic male. If you see him or anyone that resembles him, please call 9-1-1. Do not attempt to approach the individual may contact with them. Call 9-1-1 and get the authorities involved. So stay safe, stay vigilant and be safe out there.”
