ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC

1. Elizabeth Ortega – “I had a question. Again, I'm not familiar to how this process works at a council meeting. I don't know if you guys are able to respond, but I did have a concern from my understanding. Well, I work for the Open-Door Network for the DV shelters and from our understanding it's set to shut down. So, we're in the blind not knowing exactly what's going on. So we kind of just wanted to know the status of it and if it's going to close, because like I said, I've been there for seven years, and the need is really here in the surrounding areas. We've had clients and kids that we've sheltered and provided services to them throughout the whole time that we've been here. There's not been an instance where we've not had a client. So that was just pretty much my question as to the status of the shelter.”

COUNCIL STATEMENTS AND REPORTS
Council Member Bryan Osorio – “Just two quick updates. I want to thank city staff for coordinating backpack donation we received where I then took it to the Delano Unified Elementary School District.

Thanks Camry. Thanks, Mr. Chavez, for that support. Then, as was mentioned by Mr. Rodriguez, the press conference by Caltrans took place on Friday. I just want to thank Caltrans, our City of Delano staff, the Urbanist Collective, their art work, and also in attendance. Were the offices of assembly member Jasmine Bains, Congressman David Val, and Senator Melissa Hurtado, who I lightly tapped onto help us support with paving out more trail in the future. But that's it for me. Thanks folks.” Council Member Alindajao – None.

Council Member Solorio-Ruiz – None
Mayor Pro-Tem Nunez – None
Mayor Morris - “Okay, the only thing I have is this coming Friday is the State of the City. Okay, if you don't know what the State of the City is, it is actually sponsored by the Chamber. It is a board installation as well as a community awards night, and community awards night means that every, they're going selected or people have voted for the best restaurant, the best barbershop, the best car repair place, the best whatever or the best of Delano. And so those awards will be handed out that night and it's going to be at the Hyatt and it starts at 5:30 and there's a dinner that goes with that. So, you might come out and support us. Maribel and the Chief, I think have a big part in that program that night. They will be reporting on part of the State of the City as well as I will chime in, but most of the information is going to come from the people who know most about what's happening in the City of Delano. So thank you. That challenge. So any of you that can go, please try it and make that. The week after a week from Saturday is the Kiwanis is having their luau at the Heritage Park. They haven't been to that, it really is a lot of fun and a lot of good food. So they have lechon and all the fixings out there, so come out and support them. Kiwanis does good things for kids and the community. So other than that, I really don't have anything else to report. And thank you all for being here this evening.”
