I live in district 2 and I've been a Downey citizen since 1969. I've become disgusted about what's going on with the current Council. This is the first time since moving here I'm embarrassed by the City Council and the Council Members that put their own agendas before the Downey citizens. Shame on you. It is not in our best interest to leave district 2 seat open or get just anyone in it. You should consider Mario Guerra, an experience and knowledgeable leader. We need someone who will look out for our best interest. After Blanca voted for Council member Alvarez for Mayor Pro Tern, citizens lost faith in her leadership and what's good for ALL Downey citizens

Downey Representatives
You have voted to approve the opening of bar Ojos Locos Cantina.

This type of business degrades the standing of all women where women become an object.

We have enough in our lives where women have to fight the patriarchal forms of our society. This type of business stereotypes the macho culture of our society.

I have lived in Downey for 40 years and I have seen the changes.

Firestone Blvd, Florence Ave, Lakewood Blvd and Paramount Blvd are full of businesses where the traffic is unbearable and dangerous.

We compare the development of a city by the support we give to our children's education. I have to ask why didn't you expand and build a second floor to our city library during the pandemic.

We have enough of your careless votes and decisions in our city.

Stop the construction of this bar.

Ojos locos is an adult bar/business and I do not agree with an establishment of this type being allowed in this city. It makes much less sense that it would be allowed to have such a close proximity to a school.

Sincerely,
Francisco Morales
Downey resident

I think the new addition of the ojos locos restaurant could bring in a younger generation of people that will help keep Downey growing.

The city of Downey has had no issues with any other restaurant for the past years as the promenade is growing it is time a fun sports bar came into the area.

Subject: Fwd: City Council; District 2 Vacancy
Please strongly consider appointing someone to fill this seat with a qualified person who has had experience in City politics and has already proven himself honorable, respectful, ethical and professional.

Mr. Mario Guerra is the only applicant that is qualified for this. This Council needs balance and direction.

As it seems the swing vote lies in the hands of Madame Mayor, and that she has given up on Little ole Downey and has her eyes on moving on, away from Downey politics... Please prove us wrong, and that Downey still matters to her and do the right thing.

A Concerned Downey Citizen
