At the December 11, 2018 City Council meeting, the Council approved a renewal application and authorized certain staff to acquire surplus property for the City. Per the Program guidelines, a renewal application is valid for three (3) years. The City's renewal application expired on December 11, 2021.

There is no impact to approve the application and Resolution. Approval for the program may save thousands of dollars by allowing the City to acquire assets.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY AUTHORIZING
CERTAIN CITY REPRESENTATIVES TO ACQUIRE FEDERAL SURPLUS
PROPERTY
1,1AEREAS, the Federal Surplus Property Program ("Program") enables certain nonfederal organizations to obtain personal property that the federal government no longer needs,and
WHEREAS, the California Stage Agency for Surplus Property ("Agency") requires the City to authorize the acquisition of such property and accept responsibly for payment of incidental fees associated with acquiring such property; and WHEREAS, to renew the City's eligibility in the Program, the City must submit to the Agency the attached eligibility application along with a Resolution authorizing certain designated city representatives to acquire goods on behalf of the City and accept responsibility for payment of incidental fees associated with acquiring such property.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SgOON 1. That the City Council approve the attached Program eligibility application and direct the City Clerk to certify such fact to the Agency, SECTION 2. The following city representatives are authorized to acquire surplus property through the auspices of the California State Agency for Surplus Property and are to be included in the application:
