Honorable Mayor Pacheco, and City Council;
As a resident of Downey for 50 years I am urging the City Council to take a bold move for the future of the City, and include in the 2022-2023 budget a line item for Arts, Culture and History.
Downey has fallen behind other cities in LA County who recognize the importance of Arts, Culture and History and that it needs to be woven in the very fabric of the City.
Arts, Culture, and History plays an important role in each of the City's goals:
Quality of Life
Pubic Engagement
Economic Vibrancy
Efficiency and Adaptability
Fiscal Responsibility
