SUBJECT: ACCEPT WORK FOR FLORENCE AVENUE PAVEMENT REHABILITATION, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (CIP) NO. 20-05
RECOMMENDATION
2. Approve All American Asphalt's final construction contract amount of $1,482,855.47; and
3. Authorize Public Works Director/City Engineer to file Notice of Completion with the Los Angeles County Recorder's office.
On November 9, 2021, the City Council approved plans (Attachment A) and specifications for the Florence Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation and granted authority to advertise for construction bids. A copy of the project specifications are available for review in the Public Works Department.
On January 25, 2022, the City Council awarded a construction contract in the amount of $1,459,369 to All American Asphalt. On March 28, 2022, work commenced and was completed on June 17, 2022.
This project rehabilitated approximately 3,525 linear feet or 0.7 miles of the existing asphalt pavement on Florence Avenue from Tweedy Lane to Brookshire Avenue. The project also included striping and installation of pavement markings and replaced damaged and/or uplifted the latest Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
In addition, one change order in the amount of $5,879.06 was approved for installation of additional pavement transitions adjacent to new driveway approaches to complete work on the project. The final construction contract amount was $1,482,855.47.
The Florence Avenue Pavement Rehabilitation project has been completed in accordance with 'the approved plans and specifications and staff recommends that the City Council accept the project as complete.
