On IT -larch 22, 2022, the City Council approved plans (Attachment A) and specifications for the- 5th Street Pavement Rehabilitation and granted authority to advertise for construction bids. A copy of the project specifications is available for review in the Public Works Department. On April 26, 2022, the City Council awarded a construction contract in the amount of $584,000 to Onyx Paving Company, Inc. Work commenced on July 5, 2022 and was completed on August 12,2022.
This project rehabilitated approximately 2,300 linear feet of asphalt pavement on 5th Street between Brookshire Avenue and Lakewood Boulevard. In addition, the cul-de-sacs on Birchdale Avenue, Bellman Avenue and Marbel Avenue adjacent to 5th Street were rehabilitated. Finally, this project removed and replaced uplifted or damaged curb and gutter, cross -gutters, sidewalks, driveway approaches and curb access ramps to comply with the latest Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
During construction, one change order in the amount of $1,850 was approved for the removal and replacement of two stamped concrete sidewalk panels. There was a net decrease in contract quantities amounting to $44,134.21. Thus, the final construction contract amount was $541,715.79.
The 5th Street Pavement Rehabilitation project has been completed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications and staff recommends that the City Council accept the project as complete.
