At the August 9, 2022 meeting of the City Council, the Council introduced the Ordinance and waived first reading. The Ordinance now comes before the Council for second reading and consideration •o.: adoption.
Because Ordinance 22-1478 duplicates the addition of Chapter 13, the City is required to amend #rdinance No. 22-1478 to renumber the proposed Chapter 13 to Chapter 14. This clean-up is necessary so that the Code Publishers can codify both Ordinances. There are no other changes proposed to Ordinance No. 22-1478.

SECTION 1. The title of Chapter 13 ("Food Handlers") of Article IV of the Downey Municipal Code, as set forth in Ordinance No. 22-1478, is amended to read as follows:
"Chapter 14 — FOOD HANDLERS"
SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 22-1478 is amended to renumber Article IV, Chapter 13 of the Downey Municipal Code (in Ordinance No. 22-1478) to instead read as Article IV, Chapter 14, and all references, section numbers, and citations in Ordinance No. 22-1478 to Chapter 13 shall be renumbered to Chapter 14.
SECTION 3. Ordinance No. 22-1478 is amended to renumber Sections 4990 (Definitions), 4991 (Business Attire for Food Handler), and 4992 (Violation — Penalty) of the Downey Municipal Code (as reflected in Ordinance No. 22-1478) to instead read as, respectively, Sections 4995 (Definitions), 4996 (Business Attire for Food Handler), and 4997 (Violation — Penalty), and all references, section numbers, and citations in Ordinance No. 22-1478 to Sections 4990, 4991, and 4992 shall be renumbered, respectively, to Sections 4995, 4996, and 4997.
SECTION 4, Other than renumbering the chapters and section numbers and citations accordingly, no other changes to the substance of Ordinance 22-1478 are being made. Existing Article IV, Chapter 13 (Targeted Residential Picketing) in the Downey Municipal Code shall remain unchanged.
SECTION 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect 30 days after its passage and adoption pursuant to California Government Code section 36937.
