SUBJECT: APPROVE THE DONATION OF TWO FOURSOMES OF GOLF AT THE RIO
HONDO GOLF COURSE FOR THE ARC OF LOS ANGELES & ORANGE
COUNTIES AND ROTARY CLUB OF DOWNEY CHARITY GOLF
TOURNAMENT ON NOVEMBER 4, 2022
That the City Council approve the donation of two foursomes of golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Club for The ARC Los Angeles & Orange Counties and Rotary Club of Downey charity golf tournament to be held on November 4, 2022.
The Arc Los Angeles and Orange Counties is committed to providing people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the ability to form and work towards goals through training and education based on their individual abilities. Further, they are committed to helping to reduce and limit the incidence and consequences of intellectual and developmental disabilities through education research, advocacy, and the support of families, friends, and the community.
The Rotary Club of Downey is a humanitarian service organization that brings together business and professional leaders to provide community service, promote integrity, and advance goodwill, peace, and understanding.
In helping to support these long-standing community organizations, Council is asked to consider donating two foursomes of golf for their charity golf tournament.
A round of golf ranges from $20 for Downey residents, youth and seniors on weekdays to $50 per person on weekends and holidays. The current agreement with the Rio Hondo Golf Club operator allows the City Council to authorize the City Manager's approval of courtesy play when the use benefits the City as approved by Council.
