3. Authorize Director of Public Works/City Engineer to file Notice of Completion with tht- Los Angeles County Recorder's office.
On May 24, 2022, the City Council approved plans and specifications (Attachment A) for Cole Street Water System Improvements and granted authority to advertise for bids. A copy of project specifications is available for review in the Public Works Department. On June it 2022, the City Council awarded a construction contract for this project to Williams Pipeline Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $361,750. Work commenced on August 15, 2022 and was completed on October 10, 2022.
The water improvements included installation of new 8-inch water mains along Cole Street from Brookshire Avenue to Patton Road; installation of valves, fittings, and appurtenances-, replacement of existing fire hydrants; installation of additional fire hydrants where adequate fire water protection was lacking; installation of new copper water service lines; and replacement of old water meters with new remote -read advanced water meters along the project limits to help improve water meter reading efficiencies.
During construction, additional work beyond the original scope of the project resulted in one contract change order totaling $2,000. The change order work included overtime costs to perform final pipeline connection work on a weekend in order to complete water improvements in advance of scheduled pavement replacement on Cole Street. The final construction contract amount was $363,750.
