SUBJECT: APPROVE CHANGE ORDER FOR WELL NO. 14 REHABILITATION, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (CIP) NO. 21-24
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Change Order No. 3 in the amount of $128,031 for Well No.
Rehabilitation, CIP No. 21-24; and
2. Authorize Public Works Director/City Engineer to execute any change orders or additional scope of work deemed necessary or desirable up to the amended project budget.

On August 24, 2021, the City Council awarded a contract for Well No. 14 Rehabilitation, CIP N 21-24 to Best Drilling and Pump, Inc. in the amount of $185,445 with the overall project 1 co
estimated at $225,000. The well rehabilitation improvements include mechanical cleanin chemical cleaning; test pump installation; redevelopment by pumping and surging; bailing; pu testing; zone flow testing and sampling; replacement of motor, pump, column pipe, a associated materials; and well disinfection. Work commenced on September 15, 2021.

change order work included the cost of additional chemicals for cleaning of the well casing a additional redevelopment of the well by pumping and surging. The total cost of Change Ord No. 1 and 2 work was within the originally approved project budget and was, therefor 2pproved administratively.
During the final phase of rehabilitation, it was determined that additional work beyond the original scope of the project was necessary prior to reactivation of the well. Such work includes additional mechanical cleaning, chemical cleaning, installation of a cement plug to close off a portion of the well that is producing negligible amounts of water, removal and reinstallation of the pump, and the materials and labor necessary to complete the work. The cost of such additional work is $128,031 and will be included in Change Order No. 3.
