Water system infrastructure along 4 th Street from Paramount Boulevard to La Reina Avenue are in need of improvements to ensure reliable water service for domestic and fire protection purposes. Said water improvements are proposed to be completed in advance of upcoming 4 th Street pavement rehabilitation in order to eliminate impacts to new pavement in the future.
Project limits are shown on the project location map (Attachment A).
The plans (Attachment B) and specifications are complete and the project is now ready for solicitation of construction bids. A copy of the specifications is available for review in the Public Works Department.
The proposed water improvements include installation of 1,200 feet of new 6-inch water main along 4 1h Street between Paramount Boulevard and La Reina Avenue; installation of valves, fittings, and appurtenances; replacement of existing fire hydrants; installation of additional fire hydrants where adequate fire water protection is currently lacking; installation of new copper water service lines; and replacement of old water meters with new remote -read advanced water meters along the entire project limits to help improve water meter reading efficiencies.
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the project plans and specifications ani authorize solicitation for bids. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in May 2023 be completed in July 2023.
