EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council will consider approving a summer recess and cancel the July 11, 2023 City Council meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Approve a summer recess and cancel the July 11, 2023 City Council meeting.
BACKGROUND
To give adequate notice to all interested parties, it is recommended that the City Council approve and announce a summer recess and cancel the first meeting in July. Due to the proximity to the 4th of July holiday and that the majority of the City Council will be out of town at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) conference on July 11-13, 2023, it is recommended that the July 11, 2023 City Council meeting be cancelled. Rescheduling the meeting would be problematic due to the 4 th of July holiday immediately preceding the week of the Council meeting. Additionally, many staff schedule vacation at this time of the year, and it is helpful to staff to have a known summer recess period, so that vacations can be more easily coordinated with families. If the meeting cancellation is approved, the next regularly scheduled meeting will be July 25, 2023.
