ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council will consider approving the donation of one golf foursome at the Rio Hondo Golf Course and the sponsorship of one tee sign to the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation’s Golf Tournament scheduled for October 16, 2023.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Approve the donation of one golf foursome at the Rio Hondo Golf Course and the sponsorship of one tee sign to the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation’s Golf Tournament scheduled for October 16, 2023.
BACKGROUND
Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center is a world-renowned hospital that provides specialty rehabilitative care to individuals who have suffered from spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological disorders. The Rancho Los Amigos Foundation raises philanthropic dollars for services and equipment for patients who come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds; the Foundation’s support allows them to receive treatments and programs that are unfunded by insurance or are otherwise outside of the financial means of the patient, or not within the traditional Los Angeles County funding practices.
In helping to support this long-standing community organization, Council is asked to consider donating one foursome of golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course and one tee sign sponsorship to the Rancho Los Amigos Foundation’s Golf Tournament on October 16, 2023.

2 ANALYSIS
A round of golf ranges from $23 for Downey residents on weekdays to $59 per person on weekends and holidays. The current agreement with the Rio Hondo Golf Course allows the City Council to authorize the City Manager’s approval of courtesy play when the use benefits the City as approved by Council.

FISCAL IMPACT
Approval of this recommended action will result in an estimated revenue decrease in the amount of approximately $236 from the Parks & Recreation Department Account No. 52- 3-6610. The financial impact for the sponsorship of the tee sign will be $500 from account 10-4-110-0140. There is sufficient working fund balance for the recommended actions.
