SUBJECT: RATIFY THE DONATION OF ONE FOURSOME OF GOLF FOR DOWNEY
ROTARY CLUB
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council will consider ratifying the donation of one foursome of golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course in support of the Downey Rotary Club & ARC Golf Tournament Event.
Proceeds from the annual fundraising event support the programs offered by the Arc of Los Angeles and Orange Counties to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Ratify the donation of one foursome of golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course in support of Downey Rotary Club & ARC Golf Tournament Event on November 3, 2023.
BACKGROUND
Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated human rights purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to advance goodwill and peace around the world. It is a secular organization open to all people regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, or political preference. There are 34,282 clubs worldwide with 1.2 million individuals called Rotarians as members.
In helping to support this long-standing community organization, the City Council is asked to ratify the donation of one foursome of golf at the Rio Hondo Golf Course to the Downey Rotary Club & ARC Golf Tournament Event on November 3, 2023. Proceeds from the annual fundraising event support the programs offered by the Arc of Los Angeles and Orange Counties to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

2 ANALYSIS
A round of golf ranges from $47 per person on weekdays to $59 per person on weekends and holidays. The current agreement with the Rio Hondo Golf Course all ows the City Council to authorize the City Manager’s approval of courtesy play when the use benefits the community as approved by Council. A foursome of golf, includes two teams of two players, with the approximate cost of tee time on the weekend being $236.

FISCAL IMPACT
Approval of this recommended action will result in an estimated revenue decrease in the amount of approximately $236 from the Parks & Recreation Department Account No. 52- 3-6610. There is sufficient working fund balance for the recommended action.
