EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council will consider approving a fee waiver for the use of the City's showmobile for the 2024 28T" Annual Arc Walk for Independence on March 23, 2024. The Arc of Los Angeles advocates for and supports a world where the quality of life, access, and inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities is not a struggle.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Approve a fee waiver for the use of the showmobile for the 2024 28th Annual Arc Walk for Independence.
BACKGROUND
The Arc Los Angeles and Orange Counties (The Arc) is committed to providing people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the ability to form and work towards goals through training and education based on their individual abilities. Further, they are committed to helping to reduce and limit the incidence and consequences of intellectual and developmental disabilities through education research, advocacy, and the support of families, friends, and the community.
ANALYSIS
The City of Downey received a request from The Arc for a fee waiver for the use of the City's showmobile for the 2024 Arc Walk. The labor costs for the delivery and pick up of the showmobile are approximately $800, and the standard equipment rental revenue is $434, bringing the total cost to $1,234.
