SUBJECT: SPONSORSHIP FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL CHILDREN’S BENEFIT DINNER
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council will consider approving a table sponsorship for the 3rd Annual Children’s Community Family Guidance Center (CFGC) Benefit Dinner taking place on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Sheraton Hotel, Cerritos, CA. The support from this dinner will help the CFGC with its mission to address the critical mental health needs of the community.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Approve the City’s sponsorship of a table for the 3rd Annual Children’s Benefit Dinner on May 2, 2024.
BACKGROUND
Established in 1976, the Community Family Guidance Center has served the Downey community for almost 50 years. The CFGC provides a place where families from Los Angeles County affected by trauma, abuse, and mental health issues can heal and restore their lives. Their services include individual and family therapy, medication support, and community linkage. In addition, the CFGC serves the Downey Unified School District directly by offering mental health services ranging from physical, mental, and sexual abuse to under-served children ages 0 through 21.
ANALYSIS
The City of Downey received a request from the Community Family Guidance Center (CFGC) regarding a table sponsorship for the 3rd Annual Children’s Benefit Dinner on May 2, 2024. The City has traditionally provided a table sponsorship for the annual event.
The cost for the table sponsorship is $1,100. Through this table sponsorship, the City of Downey will help fund the programs and services that the CFGC offers to the community at large and to the children in the Downey Unified School District by providing them with mental health services.

FISCAL IMPACT
Approval of the recommended action will result in an expenditure of $1,100 from the General Fund – City Council Department, Account No. 10-4-1110-0140 for the table sponsorship. There is sufficient fund balance for the recommended action.
