SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE INDEPENDENT CITIZENS’ OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE FOR COUNCIL DISTRICT 1
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council will consider adopting a resolution to appoint Mr. Cesar Ortiz to the Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee for Council District 1.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Adopt Resolution No. 24-8233, approving the appointment of Cesar Ortiz to the Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee for Council District 1.
DISCUSSION
On November 7, 2023, Council Member Horacio Ortiz was elected to serve the one-year unexpired term of office for Council District 1, which is scheduled to end December 10, 2024. Council Member Ortiz was sworn into office on December 12, 2023.
Council Member Ortiz is recommending the appointment of Mr. Cesar Ortiz to the Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee for Council District 1.
Per Downey City Charter Section 902. Appointments. Terms. Members of Boards or Commissions shall serve for terms which shall commence with the commencement of the term of the Council Member from whose district the member was appointed and shall end upon the end of the term of the term of the Council Member from whose district the member was appointed upon a vacancy in that Council District.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF CESAR ORTIZ TO THE INDEPENDENT CITIZENS’ OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE FOR COUNCIL DISTRICT 1
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Cesar Ortiz is hereby appointed to the Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee for Council District 1 for the term expiring December 2024.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and transmit a copy thereof to the appointee.
