SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE FOR COUNCIL DISTRICT 4
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City Council will consider adopting a resolution to appoint Mr. John Wilhite to the Public Works Committee for Council District 4.
RECOMMENDATION
That the City Council:
Adopt Resolution No. 24-8235, approving the appointment of John Wilhite to the Public Works Committee for Council District 4.
DISCUSSION
On November 7, 2023, Council Member Dorothy Pemberton was elected to serve the one-year unexpired term of office for Council District 3. After her successful election to the Downey City Council, Council Member Pemberton resigned from her appointed position on the Public Works Committee for Council District 4.
Council Member Frometa is recommending the appointment of Mr. John Wilhite to the Public Works Committee for Council District 4, to fill the current vacancy created by the resignation of Council Member Pemberton.
Per Downey City Charter Section 902. Appointments. Terms. Members of Boards or Commissions shall serve for terms which shall commence with the commencement of the term of the Council Member from whose district the member was appointed and shall end upon the end of the term of the term of the Council Member from whose district the member was appointed upon a vacancy in that Council District.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY
APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF JOHN WILHITE TO THE PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE FOR COUNCIL DISTRICT 4
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DOWNEY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. John Wilhite is hereby appointed to the Public Works Committee for Council District 4 for the term expiring December 2026.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and transmit a copy thereof to the appointee.
